  1. LOVED the video, maybe you can shed some light on the Full Spectrum Lighting,i have a double stack cage 40 x 40,i can place a full spectrum on the top of the upper cage but the only way i can get light into the botton cage is to use a light stand but i have been told that it must ALWAYS be over their heads to have any effect and not just shining down off the side,is this true any thoughts on this would be great

    • Hi Pat,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

I too believe that it is best to have the full spectrum light overhead. The biggest problem with a light stand that is not overhead is that only one side of their feathers is being lit by the light depending on where they are sitting at the time.

I had an idea if possible, that may or may not work for you. Here it goes… it possible to have your bottom stack cage flock switch on a weekly basis with your top stack cage flock. I know this can be very difficult as it is unsettling to many birds to have the cage switched on a constant basis. I just thought that this may be an idea so that every week everyone has a chance for some overhead sunlight.

The other thought is that you could move the bottom stand light to each side of the cage (front, back, left and right) on a daily basis so that not matter where they are standing everyday they would have sunlight coming from a different direction. The flock in the top stacked cage could have the overhead light.

Let me know what you think of these ideas.
